This is probably a dumb Q, but I figured I'd check.
I just got a new Mission M15 shield/cage combo. It's my first helmet with a cage and I'm wondering about the straps. You have the 2 straps off the chin cup in the cage that secure the helmet...do you also need to use the traditional chin strap? It's kind of a PITA to get to with the cage. I'm assuming I can just remove it since the 2 chin cup straps secure the helmet. Hopefully that wasn't a totally stupid noob question. |

yes you can remove it unless otherwise directed in your leagues rules but i doubt that you need it.

I would keep the chinstrap for two reasons:
1) Most leagues I've played in require a chinstrap. I would ask a ref in your league or the convenor about the rules in yours before removing it. 2) The cage straps hold the cage to your helmet, but aren't designed to prevent your helmet from coming up and off...they'll help with that a little, but that's really the chin straps job. Yes, it is hard to get the chin strap done up if you do up the cage first - simply do the chin strap first and then the cage and it'll be much easier for you. |

I played Friday without the chin strap, ,in fact, not one guy with a cage was using a chin strap. When my cage straps are attached, I can not get the helmet off. It seems like one more useless step that's not needed, so I'm going without it.
