Default Helmet and cage

My son is in a learn to play program. He is using the rinks helmet, I want to get him his own because he is really enjoying playing. He is 3 years old and his head is 19" around. What is a good helmet/cage for him.

I have been really happy with my RBK helmet...you don't have to get the expensive one either.

Thanks mememe.
I have been reading about the Bauer 2100 Jr. Its $47.00 with a cage. Any opinions on this combo?

I use to ref a local youth roller league. I don't think anyone was as young as 3 but there were some smaller sized kids and a few had the Bauer Jr, and I didn't hear any complaints or see any possible flaws in it. As long as it fits him correctly he should be good. Hes not going to be flying into the boards at full speed, or getting checked in open ice. So as long as it protects him from banging his head when he falls or collides with another kid, it should be good.

I think any Bauer helmet would be great for anyone.

Default Hecc

I will resurrect this thread with another helmet question.

I ended up getting my son a RBK 8K helmet and fitted it with a Bauer 2100 cage. The helmet fits him great. I ordered it on March 30, 2012. He is in mites now and we were told that the HECC cert needs to be up to date and that the refs will be checking at games. I looked at his helmet and the sticker expired Apr 2011. Can I get this helmet re-certified or is there anything I can do? I will be calling the company I got it from, they sold us an expired helmet.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to renew HECC certifications. I would recommend calling the company and requesting a new helmet with updated certifications.

After speaking with Reebok/CCM, they won't help at all. Then speaking with multiple retailers, I believe the HECC certification is more about helmet sales then safety. But that is what this world has come to, money making schemes with the guise of safety or security. I'm sure its not just Reebok but all manufactures who use these "safety" certifications. What a joke!
